“I still think of GYC every time I ride past.

It's right next door to Cripps Bakery. I remember the smell of freshly baked bread each morning and mountain views as a backdrop... it's unreal.

I remember watching the London Olympics in my lounge room with a bunch of my GYC mates. We talked about how cool it would be to be there. Four years later I realised my dream at the Rio games.”

At GYC you’re treated like a young adult. You’re not told to pull up your socks every five minutes. There was a good balance.
Your education is more your responsibility. It’s like the next step to prepare you for the next stage of your life as an adult.

“Year 11 was a fresh start for me.

First impressions count and it was nice to go somewhere I chose. I worked pretty hard at college. I got a note from Mum to say I could leave early. I'd finish school and go home and train and then study into the late arvo and evening. The teachers were flexible and supportive, especially of the time I spent away pursuing cycling.”

Senior secondary. Think GYC.
